We left Yangon this morning and embarked on an exciting journey to Inle Lake that included a flight, a road trip, and a boat ride. Given my last, lengthy and wordy post, I feel that I should peg my needle to the other end of the scale and follow “a picture is worth a thousand words”. So here goes.
Stopping on the way to Inle Lake to see and oxen auction that takes place every four days.
Bringing his stock to the auction. John Wayne?
Here’s my new ox. Make room on the bus, please.
Young boy with his ride.
Watching after his little brother.
She Min Cave
She Min, natural cave, home to more than 8,000 statues of Buddha.
Buddhas here…..
Buddhas there…..
Buddhas everywhere…
And more, if you want more…..
Enough all ready!
Roselie adding gold foil to the statue.
The cave’s little cafeteria – we decided to pass.
A much better lunch choice on the way to Inle Lake
What should we order? Lets start with a Myanmar beer.
Stopping at a little shop specializing in making umbrellas.
Loaded with supplies….make that overloaded with supplies.
Aspiring electrical engineer powering his propeller motor.
Time to switch to the final mode of transportation. What fun!
I’m the Pilot on this voyage.
Enjoying the ride.
The key transport vehicle in this part of Myanmar.
Colorful living along the canal.
The race is on! Who is the fastest?
Fishermen on Inle Lake
One legged rowing to free up both hands to manage the fishing basket.
Showing off his fishing basket, one-legged rowing, and core strength, of course.
We can see our lake side home for the next few nights. Beautiful as the sun sets and the lights come on.
Approaching our berth with our luggage strapped in place up front.
We’re here…finally!
Thumbs up. Time to go ashore.
View from our rooms as dusk settles in.
Beautiful, inviting accommodations.
