2014 Exploring The Northwest – DAY 15
After enjoying a gorgeous morning in Banff, we relocated to Lake Louise, about 60 KM north of Banff. As is usual in this part of the country, it was an incredible scenic drive. After setting up camp at Lake Louise, we explored the town, which is tiny compared to Banff.
Park Canada does an excellent job of providing good camping facilities, and reservations are not required. The sites are beautiful with lots of space for privacy. Interestingly, our campsite in Lake Louise is located about 300 feet from one of their major north-south railroad tracks. We can’t see the trains because of the trees, but we can certainly hear them….all day long and all night long, blowing their horns as they go by. We feel like we’re in the movie – My Cousin Vinny – we enjoy it. Roselie and Carmine are determined to get close to the tracks to watch a train go by and wave.
This evening we enjoyed making a large pan of paella for dinner with a nice bottle of wine as our treat. Speaking of treats, we continued to make progress in eating all that chocolate we bought in Banff. Outstanding!
