Why did we chose to take this trip?
Camping and communing with nature refreshes our spirits. Exploring the Northwestern area of the United States and the Southwestern area of Canada has been at the top of our wish list for many years. The areas are filled with extraordinary national parks and spectacular scenery: Craters of the Moon, Glacier National Park, Waterton, Banff/St. Louis and Canadian Rockies, Northern Cascade National Park, Seattle, Mount Ranier, Mount Olympus, Victoria Island, and the whole coast of Washington and Oregon. We wanted to experience these areas before they change. Glacier National Park and Waterton [the Canadian part of Glacier National Park] is changing. For example, there were 150 glaciers in 1850. Today, due to global warming, there 25. Current glacier regression models predict that by 2030 there will be no remaining glaciers.
As a final stop before returning home, we will visit Ashland, Oregon for a week of Shakespeare as well as contemporary theatre productions, while enjoying some great food – checkout Sammy’s Cowboy Bistro and Amuse.
Roselie’s brother Carmine and his wife Rosemarie will be joining us for the whole adventure. My brother Marcel and his wife Sandi will participate in about half the trip. Roselie’s brother John and his wife Ginny, and brother Arthur and his wife Terrilynn will join the adventure in Ashland.
